In the holidays calendars of most countries there are special days set aside to celebrate and honor women, and not just famous public figures, scientists, artists or political leaders but regular wives, mothers, sisters and coworkers as well. On these days men pay special attention to the “fairer” sex. This attention is usually expressed by giving women flowers, nice little gifts and sweets… not to mention doing a larger share of housework as well.

The tradition of celebration such holidays - for example International Women’s Day on March 8 - is especially strong in Russia and in other countries of the former Soviet Union. Every Russian woman wants to wake up on this day to splendid bouquets of flowers and numerous phone calls from their admirers! Or at least to breakfast in bed served by her husband.
